“I adore Haider, and I wear his clothes as often as I can,” said Swinton. “He’s also a very dear friend, I was on vacation with him this summer. Now he can read my mind about what I want to wear.”

5 new additons to the camargue stable…

Our trip to Paris for SS12 was very fruitful & we are excited to announce the arrival of 5 new labels to the camargue stable!!Belgian designer Sofie D’Hoore has a particular penchant for comfortable, well-structured clothes. Her style is defined by the purity of its lines, strict cutting, and the balance of its flowing, structured volumes.Sofie D’Hoore’s philosophy is that of timelessness. She dresses women, never disguises them. With class, discretion and reserve.
The Croatian-born designer Damir Domar grew up surrounded by toiles in his mother’s atelier in Germany and later studied fashion in Munich and Berlin, where he graduated in 2004. After gaining experience in the ateliers of Belgian designers Raf Simons and Dirk Schönberger in Antwerp, he relocated to Paris to join the Paper Rain group in 2007.Doma’s work is harmoniously linked by a sense of uniform and an obsessive interplay between shadow and light. Questioning the modern wardrobe, garments offer multiple expressions of identity – contrasting elements of androgyny with dress codes across cultural and historical spheres.
Founded in Stockholm in 1996 by four creatives, Acne’s ambition was to create and develop a lifestyle brand through desirable products, as well as helping other people to build their brands.”Fashion is the best form of self-expression. We like to design pieces that together form the coolest wardrobe, but is ultimately wearable. It becomes one way of thinking as individual pieces, but together creates a strong, modern and considered statement.” explains Jonny Johansson, Acne’s Creative Director.
1972 : Bernhard Willhelm is born in Ulm.1994-1998 : Studies at the ROYAL ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS in Antwerp. During his studies he assists Walter van Beirendonck, Alexander Mc Queen, Vivienne Westwood and Dirk Bikkembergs.1999 : the Label Bernhard Willhelm was founded together with businesspartner Jutta Kraus. First women’s collections is presented in Paris.2001 : BW receives the Moët & Chandon Fashion Award.2002 : the B-magazine invites BW as a guest editor for the second issue BW Atelier moves to Paris…

Wild & oh so quirky we can’t wait for Bernhard Willhelm to arrive in 2012!!

He was one of the earliest names in the frame for the Dior job and we couldn’t help fantasising about what Haider Ackermann’swork would do for one of Paris’ grandest fashion houses. There is always an anger to this Columbian-born, Galliano-trained designer’s collections that is both alluring and a touch intimidating – dark colours, deconstruction and roughly pulled up hair imply an inherent aggression that he won’t consider playing to anyone else’s tune – but there was such beauty in the anger that his status as one of Paris’ most valued talents is absolute.

Haider Ackermann & Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton, currently receiving rave reviews in “We Need to Talk About Kevin” , scooped the Best Career gong and arrived with designer-of-the moment, Haider Ackermann. The actress recently admitted that the concept of a stylist left her flabbergasted: “You mean there’s somebody in your hotel room who actually takes your clothes out of a suitcase and lays them out for you,”. “Really? Or is that just a fantasy. There is nobody in my suitcase, but myself, I can tell you that.” Having dressed herself in Ackermann’s resplendent creations for the evening, he was crowned Designer of the Year.

Who is Ann Demuelemeester?

Ann Demuelemeester was added to the camargue stable in Winter 2011… We have just recently ordered our 3rd collection from this amazing Belgian designer…. So who is Ann Demuelemeester?

ABOUT…..

Ann Demeulemeester was born in 1959 in Kortrijk, Belgium. After graduating from the art school in Brugge, she studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp from 1978 to 1981. in 1981 she graduating as part of the class that went on to become known as the “Antwerp Six”. From 1981 she did freelance designing for international ready-to-wear collections.

She launched her own label in 1985 with husband Patrick Robyn, showing women’s wear in Paris for the first time in 1992 and combining it with menswear in 1996. She is one of the group of experimentally minded designers which emerged from Belgium in the mid-80′s. Ann lives with her husband photographer Patrick Robyn and son Victor in a house designed by architect Corbusier, in Antwerp.

Anne Demeulemeester opened her own shop in Antwerp in 1999. The collection, which includes a successful range of shoes and accessories, is now sold in 30 countries worldwide.

THE LOOK….

Demeulemeester is a deconstructionist, who avoids ornament and colour in favour of close attention to detail and unusual mixing of fabrics. Her styles often incorporate contradictions: an usterity of outline might be marked with gently draped fabrics or antique-like fabrics. Nostalgic hippie style materials with frayed edges are often mixed with stark coats. Her long coats and dresses have become her signature classic style, along with halter waistcoats, blouses disguised as neckties and trousers and skirts which expose the hip bone. Her 70′s rock style tailoring and leather wear draw inspiration from strong female icons of music such as Patti Smith or Janis Joplin. She is a master of cobweb knitwear or oversize masculine slouch suits. Demeulemeester designs clothes “with attitude”.
